OUR STORY

Tanusas was born in 2012 when Samih Sawiris and his wife Goya Gallagher built their beach house in this special place in Ecuador’s Manabí’s Province. After meeting Dayra Reyes and Rodrigo Pacheco, they decided to turn the entire 47 hectares of land into a unique and regenerative project, where well-being and sustainable development are at the core.

“Our vision extends beyond the limits of Tanusas. We aim to protect the environment, create a positive social impact and immerse people in unique cultural experiences.”

Inspired by our love for this region and this land, and by the heritage of the culture left behind by the prehispanic peoples who inhabited this territory 5,000 years ago, we started exploring, researching more and more about every aspect of this place, and so a singular vision for the Tanusas project was born — which combines both hospitality and real estate business models.

That vision embraces conservation, regeneration of ecosystems and support for local communities and social development.

We therefore collaborate closely with local artisans, agronomists, and other custodians of local culture to maintain and celebrate its essence. Most of our collaborators are born and raised in the local towns of Puerto Cayo, Puerto la Boca, El Jurón and Cantagallo. They are perfectly familiar with every corner of the territory and its surroundings, taking advantage of their knowledge and their abilities to create unique experiences for our guests.

We believe education is key to the region’s future, so have supported and continue to support the education systems of our local schools, emphasizing environmental and cultural programs, run by our non-profit Fundación Amor 7.8 and the Boca Valdivia Foundation.

We invite you to join us on our journey, to contribute positively as you travel, and be a part of a brighter future for our cherished planet and our communities.
